Welcome Home Stories: Magda & Jeremy
by
Brighton

Perched in the leafy western suburbs of Brisbane sits Magda and Jeremy’s beautiful double storey Brighton home. A resort-inspired Preston 35 accompanied by our architectural style Cube façade, Magda and Jeremy’s home stands out amongst the lush bushland that their home backs onto.

In true urban fashion, their urban resort-inspired Preston is a nod to their incredible native surroundings, creating a serene and treehouse like home. Their edgy, architectural style draws inspiration from their bushland surroundings through the exposed red brick that features in their façade, wide expansive windows throughout their home that allow the natural to filter in, and beautiful adornments like their statement wallpaper featuring stunning flora and use of feature pendants. A home that is authentic and grounded, innovative when it comes to space, and luxurious in fixtures and finishes.

Self-declared building rookies Magda and Jeremy initially set out to buy an established home, however, after a thorough search they couldn’t find a home that checked all their boxes and that wouldn’t need a renovation. That’s when they turned to Brighton to build their home. We sat down with Magda and Jeremy to explore their journey building a home with Brighton.

Cube Facade

Why did you decide to build new over buying established?

There were several reasons what we chose to build rather than buy existing.  The main reasons being that we did not find anything that really reached out and grabbed us, and the properties which we did shortlist would have required a total remodel which became cost prohibitive.

Why did you decide to build with Brighton Homes?

The house façade, the extensive list of standard inclusions, and the flexibility in working with us to achieve our desired layout left us in no doubt that Brighton’s were the builder for us.  What stood out for us in the early stages was the superior sales and service – it felt like a real collaboration.

Alfresco

What drew you to the Preston home design?

It was the façade we wanted.  We were looking for a design that complemented our style, and the Preston ticked all the boxes.

Where did you get inspiration for your build?

Endless hours driving around visiting showrooms and looking at magazines.

How would you describe your style?

Our style is a combination of mid-century modern with natural elements.  Our choice of land was based on being close to the bush and nature, so we were keen to ensure that blended those elements into our design.

What was your favourite part of some highlights of your experience?

Magda: My favourite part of the build was definitely the design and finishing selection process I just loved working with the team to pull all the options together. The girls new exactly how to achieve the look and feel I had in mind.

Jeremy: For me it was simply the people. Friending, professional and responsive.

How would you sum up your overall experience building with Brighton?

From sales, design, and contracts through to project management the process was easy.  We really felt that the sales and design sessions were a collaboration between us.  The presentation of floorplans and contracts were very thorough, with any changes turned around quickly.  While the Brighton app gave us regular updates of the build phase, they still jumped on the phone and stepped through the focus for the coming week.  For us, the project management was exceptional.

Kitchen & Living

Where is your favourite area in your home?

Magda: It has to be the kitchen and living area. As you enter the area you are greeted by a very large picture window looking out across the pool and bushland in the background.  It’s such a peaceful & calming space – I could sit there for hours. Especially if Jeremy is in charge of the gin and tonics!
