MATERIALS & FINISHES

Are you about to have your MyChoice Design Studio Selections Appointment and want to know what materials and finishes are trending in 2020?

When it comes to surface coverings and tiles, we’ve recently seen a trend in Earthy palettes, rough yet refined textures and natural and honest colours, materials and finishes with an overall focus on artisanal qualities.

BARELY THERE

Allure and intrigue with ‘barely there’ surfaces. Brighton has a few ‘there-not-there’ surfaces, which are an effective yet subtle trend that captures the eye when you least expect it. Colours that come in minimal shifts and pearlescent glazes are perfect for feature walls and entry ways. The Zara 41, at Providence, South Ripley has a beautiful textured square tile in the entrance with a striking pearlescent lustre, resembling Mother of Pearl in the perfect light. This tile is also echoed in the Master Ensuite, creating ultimate luxury.

BEIGE & GREY

We all know that grey and beige are far from boring when it comes to interior trends. These colours are not only making a return in home furnishings, they’re also returning as key colours across Kitchen and Bathroom surfaces - a fresh take on warm neutrals. Smooth finishes and gentle edges enhance the comforting softness of these hues. The Ensuite in the Harper 29 showcases beautiful handmade grey tiles in a herringbone pattern, with an uneven, yet smooth surface you can’t help but touch.

INDUSTRIAL BLUE

This colour is a deeper, slightly grainier blue with desaturated qualities, as if it were worn-out or faded. This signifies erosion, which conveys a rugged aesthetic across metals, ceramic and wood – a natural, rustic look and feel which is seen a lot in Global styling. The Kaiya 25 Master Ensuite at Covella, Greenbank features a beautiful industrial blue Japanese Finger Mosaic Tile from the floor to ceiling.

Whether it be Kitchen Benchtops, Wall and Floor Tiles or natural stone – the above three trends are evident in many of Brighton’s Display Homes. Visit our Displays to see these beautiful trends for yourself or speak to a MyChoice Design Studio Interior Design Consultant to see how you too can incorporate these trends in your very own Brighton Home.
