Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge
by
Brighton

This May, our CEO Brad Collins will be participating in the grueling Simpson Desert Challenge to raise much needed funds for our official charity partner, Youngcare. Since 2019, Brighton Homes have supported Youngcare helping to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts. We are excited to be given the opportunity to not just raise funds but take significant action to support Youngcare.

“Why am I doing this? Because I can. I have a good life where I have freedom and choice. This is a 9 day sacrifice to give back to those that aren’t as lucky as I am. It’s that simple”. - Brad Collins

ABOUT YOUNGCARE

Youngcare fight for freedom of choice for young people with high care needs and their loved ones. Too many young Australians with high care needs are being left behind, living in inappropriate and unacceptable housing. Youngcare provide a solution, giving young people with high care needs the freedom to choose where they live, who they live with and how they live their lives. A few simple rights that most take for granted.

SIMPSON DESERT CHALLENGE 2021

Brad has signed up to walk over 250km through the Simpson Desert, over nine grueling days that will see him and a group of Youngcare supporters walking over one thousand sand dunes whilst carrying their own supplies, with no access to showers, toilets, beds or any luxury. This will be an adventure of a lifetime, where they will be taken out of their comfort zones, a feat that only a handful of humans have ever embarked on.

WHY SIMPSON DESERT CHALLENGE?

As the CEO of Brighton Homes and having worked in the home building industry for over 30 years, Brad has helped many families from all walks of life build new homes. Over his vast time in the industry he has noticed one thing that is consistent across these builds, the abundance of FREEDOM and CHOICE that comes with building and living in your own home. The freedom to build any house type you choose in an area you choose, the freedom and choice to decorate your home how you want and most importantly, the choice to come and go as you please, to eat what you want, when you want and the freedom of privacy, comfort and solitude in your own space.

This abundance of freedom and choice is one of the greatest gifts when building and living in your own home however, it too often is taken for granted. It’s now time to help provide homes to those who do not have these simple rights and that’s why Brad is taking part in the Simpson Desert Challenge. It’s time to give young people with high care needs the FREEDOM and CHOICE that they not only DESERVE but they NEED to survive.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Brad’s fundraising goal is $100K. He aims to reach this by utilizing his contacts and reach in the building industry to not only raise funds but spread awareness for Youngcare.
