14 trekkers. 9 days. Over 250km. Over 1000 sand dunes. $240,993K raised. One experience of a lifetime.
After months of grueling training and preparation, Brighton’s CEO Brad Collins is only one day away from the biggest journey of his life, the Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge. On Friday morning, Brad and 14 other trekkers will be dropped in the middle of the Simpson Desert and over nine days will trek over 250km to Birdsville with 10kg on their back. Why? To raise much needed funds and awareness for our official charity partner Youngcare.
We want to thank everyone who has supported and helped spread awareness. Through Brad’s fundraising efforts, he has raised a massive $122,213. The MJH Group has generously supported Brad by matching $120,000 of that, taking his tally to a whopping $242,213. It’s not too late, donations are still being accepted.

“Why am I doing this? Because I can. I have a good life where I have freedom and choice. This is a nine day sacrifice to give back to those that aren’t as lucky as I am. It’s that simple.”
As the CEO of Brighton Homes and having worked in the residential building industry for over 30 years, I have helped many families from all walks of life build new homes. If there’s one thing that is consistent across these builds, it’s the abundance of FREEDOM and CHOICE that comes with building and living in your own home. The freedom to build any house type you choose in an area you choose, the freedom and choice to decorate your home how you want and most importantly, the choice to come and go as you please, to eat what you want, when you want and the freedom of privacy, comfort and solitude in your own space.
This abundance of freedom and choice is one of the greatest gifts when building and living in your own home however, it too often is taken for granted. It’s now time to help provide homes to those who do not have these simple rights and that’s why I am taking part in the Simpson Desert Challenge. It’s time to give young people with high care needs the FREEDOM and CHOICE that they not only DESERVE but they NEED to survive.
